On MetaTrader4 (MT4) / MetaTrader5 (MT5), you can open a demo account if allowed by your broker. Not many brokers are allowing this because, due to their marketing strategies, it is common to restrict the opening of demo accounts only through their own websites.
Here we will look at how to open a demo account on MT4/MT5.
Switch between MT4/MT5 tabs to check the steps for each.
Click "File" in the menu and select "Open an Account".
On the "Open an Account" window, select the server for the new demo account, and click "Next".
On the MT4/MT5 provided by a forex broker, the broker's servers will be shown by default. If you can't find them, type your broker name in the "add new broker" field and click "Scan".
Select "New demo account" and click "Next".
Fill in the required fields, check the "I agree to subscribe to your newsletters" box, and click "Next".
