On MetaTrader4 (MT4) / MetaTrader5 (MT5), you can group and save multiple charts together as a profile. It allows you to adjust and customize your profile by symbols and timeframes. Furthermore, you can save various settings including colors, indicators, objects, and more.
Here we will look at how to save, apply, or remove profiles on MT4/MT5.
Switch between MT4/MT5 tabs to check the steps for each.
Templates are available from the menu, the toolbar, or the status bar.
With templates, you can configure the chart parameters such as the chart type and colors, which can be applied to other charts. Profiles, meanwhile, let you set and save the layout of charts including their sizes and symbols.
Click "File" in the menu. Hover the pointer over "Profiles" to open the profile menu.
Click "Profiles" in the toolbar to open the profile menu.
Click the profile name in the status bar to open the profile menu.
External profile data can also be saved. For example, you can back up and restore your profiles on another PC's MT4. To save external data, click "Open Data Folder" from "Files" in the menu, and in the "profiles" folder, copy and paste the data you wish to add.
To save a profile, click "Save As" in the menu.
Give the profile a name and click "OK".
To open a saved profile, choose the profile to open from the profile menu.
Profiles can be switched to the next or previous one. Select the next profile to switch to the profile below in the profile menu, or select the previous profile to switch to the one above. Shortcut keys are also available.
To delete a saved profile, hover the pointer over "Remove" in the profile menu and select the profile to delete.
In the confirmation pop-up, click "Yes".
Click "File" in the menu. Hover the pointer over "Profiles" and select "Save As".
Click "Manage Profiles" in the toolbar and select "Save As".
Click "Default" in the status bar and select "Save As".
Give the profile a name and click "OK".
Click "File" in the menu. Hover the pointer over "Profiles" and select the profile to apply.
Click "Manage Profiles" in the toolbar and select the profile to apply.
Click "Default" in the status bar and select the profile to apply.
If there is a change to the applied profile, it will be automatically overwritten in the profile. If you don't want to overwrite, create and save another profile under a different name.
